Santa Maria Del Mer - Blessing the Pilgrimage

Barcelona is blessed with many beautiful cathedrals and churches. The most famous is of course Sagrada Familia. But the one that was the place for the blessing of the pilgrimage was Santa Maria Del Mer, dedicated to St Mary of the Sea.

The nave is flanked with magnificent pillars reaching up to Heaven!

The Eucharistic mass at noon was partly in English and other languages. You can find the service sheet and music here. The first reading was from Genesis - The Covenant with Noah. I have written a blog post about the Covenant. The reading seemed to be very appropiate to the times we are living in.

The music was divine, sung by a girl with a beautiful voice. Accompanied by the music, I made the prayer for Mother Mary, Our Lady of Grace, to bless the pilgrimage and all those who are part of it.

As it was the first Sunday in lent, the next reading was from Mark (Mark 1:12-15):

The Spirit drove Jesus out into the wilderness and he remained there for forty days, and was tempted by Satan. He was with the wild beasts, and the angels looked after him.

After John had been arrested, Jesus went into Galilee. There he proclaimed the Good News from God. ‘The time has come’ he said ‘and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe the Good News.’

While the passage in Mark is rather short, a more detailed description of the days in the wilderness is given in the Urantia book - paper 136.

A few years ago, while in Israel with a group, we drove up to Mt Hermon, the place where Jesus was tempted by Satan and won. The rebellion status of planet earth was terminated and we now have the opportunity (2,000 years later) for planetary liberation.
